Foreclosure Summary 2013-2014

Maryland foreclosures total 41,189 open active remaining from 2013 and 2014 foreclosure filings. Central Maryland foreclosures has the highest percentage of open/active foreclosures, which make up 48.49% of all MD foreclosures during this period. The Eastern Shore of Maryland foreclosures have 11.12%, Southern Maryland foreclosures have 32.55%, and Western Maryland foreclosures have 7.99% of all open/active foreclosures from this period.

While 41,189 active foreclosures is high, it is only a fraction of the total distressed housing market. The data from 2013-2014 reflects foreclosure filings in Maryland that remain in the housing market. We excluded Notice of Default, Foreclosure Auction, Foreclosure Right of Recession, and REO (bank owned) or private purchasers data but can be purchased through a data subscription.

Central Maryland Foreclosures Overview 2013-2014

Central Maryland foreclosures total 19,975 or 48.49% of all open/active Maryland foreclosures remaining from 2013-2014 foreclosure filings.

Together, Baltimore County and Baltimore City have a combined total of 9,455 filings or 47.33% of all Central Maryland foreclosures and 22.95% of all MD foreclosure filings during this period.

Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Harford County, Carroll County, and Montgomery County have a combined total of 10,520 or 25.54% of all remaining MD foreclosure filings from this period.

Eastern Shore Maryland Foreclosures Overview 2013-2014

Eastern Shore Maryland foreclosures total 4,584 or 11.12% of all open/active MD foreclosures remaining from 2013-2014 foreclosure filings.

Together, Wicomico and Cecil County total 1,954 or 42.62% of all Eastern Shore Maryland foreclosures and 4.74% of all MD foreclosures from this period.

Caroline County, Dorchester County, Kent County, Queen Anne's County, Talbot County, and Worcester County have a combined total of 2,630 or 6.38% of all MD foreclosure filings from this period.

Southern Maryland Foreclosures Overview 2013-2014

Southern Maryland foreclosures total 13,410 or 32.55% of all open/active MD foreclosures remaining from 2013-2014 foreclosure filings.

Prince Georges County Foreclosures have a total of 10,221 filings or 76.21% of all Southern Maryland foreclosures and 24.81% of all MD foreclosure filings from this period.

Calvert County, Charles County, and Saint Mary's County foreclosures have a combined total of 3,189 or 7.74% of all MD foreclosure filings from this period.

Western Maryland Foreclosures Overview 2013-2014

Western Maryland foreclosures total 3,294 or 7.99% of all open/active MD foreclosures remaining from 2013-2014 foreclosure filings.

Together, Fredrick County and Washington County have a combined total of 2,702 filings or 82.02% of all Western Maryland foreclosures and 6.56% of all MD foreclosure filings during this period.

Allegany County and Garrett County have a combined total of 592 filings or 1.43% of all MD foreclosure filings during this period.
